Teresa, one of the founders of our business, brings a wealth of practical business expertise spanning various domains such as marketing, sales, finance, recruitment, staffing and new business ventures. Included in this is over 20 years of hands-on experience in the Immigration and Overseas Recruitment Field, her insights are invaluable.

Having previously served as a financial director in a major company, Teresa assumed the challenge of addressing a persistent staff shortage issue. She successfully resolved this problem by recruiting skilled chefs from abroad through work permits. During her recruitment trips abroad, she recognised an opportunity to bridge a skills gap within the UK. This realisation led her to establish Five Star alongside her brother, Dan Doherty.

Teresa specialises in sponsorship management, encompassing activities like Sponsor Licence applications, challenging refusals, conducting audits to ensure compliance with duties and responsibilities and the implementation of tailored HR systems for this purpose. Her profound knowledge extends not only to the hospitality industry but also to the staffing hurdles faced by various sectors across the UK. Additionally, she possesses a comprehensive understanding of crucial immigration processes and procedures.

Teresa’s contributions have been instrumental in positively impacting the lives of numerous individuals and families who have established themselves in the UK, while also aiding businesses in their growth and pursuit of success.

Dan, co-director of Five Star, embarked on this journey alongside his sister Teresa nearly two decades ago, contributing significantly to the firm’s current success. His career path has taken him through various industries and sectors, equipping him with a versatile and extensive skill set.

Throughout his tenure at Five Star, Dan has amassed a wealth of knowledge and practical expertise in all facets of immigration. He now leads a team of talented professionals alongside Teresa, collectively steering the company towards excellence.

Dan possesses an intricate understanding of immigration applications, visa processes and the stringent requirements set forth by the UK Home Office. He completed an intensive training program to earn his OISC registration, making him a regulated immigration advisor. This accreditation enables him to guide clients and liaise with the Home Office throughout the entire application process, offering reliable and steadfast guidance from inception to conclusion.

Notably, Dan’s dedication to his clients knows no bounds. He has been at the forefront of some of Five Star’s most remarkable success stories, including securing Visit visas after applicants faced multiple refusals and working alongside their in-house solicitor to assist solicitors and counsel in successfully addressing various Sponsor Licence issues, up to and including revocation. His commitment to delivering exceptional results is a testament to his unwavering dedication.
