Everything you should know about upcoming VISA Application Centre changes

Published 15 October 2024

The UK Government has plans for major updates to VISA Application Centres (VACS), which are centres that handle visa applications on behalf of UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration).

These centres, which manage visa applications on behalf of UKVI, are operated by third-party commercial partners, often referred to as ‘suppliers.’ However, from September 2024 to January 2025, certain locations will experience a change in the commercial partners overseeing these services.

Changes for applications inside the UK

Starting in Autumn 2024, TLScontact will replace Sopra Steria as the commercial partner responsible for UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services (UKVCAS) for applicants within the UK. The exact date of this change will be announced closer to the transition. This switch will not affect your application decision, processing times or appointment availability.

Changes for applications outside the UK

In specific regions, TLScontact will be replaced by VFS Global as the commercial partner handling visa services. This transition will impact select locations in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia.

Although these changes might seem significant, they are aimed at creating a more streamlined and efficient visa application process. By staying updated and following UKVI’s guidance, you can navigate the transition smoothly.
