As of today (6th August 2024) individuals with a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) that expires on 31st December 2024 can now create a UKVI account and access your eVisa online.
Please note that this should be done before the expiry date of your BRP.
Travel documentation, such as a passport, or a visa application reference number can be used to create a UKVI account if your BRP card has been lost or misplaced.
A replacement BRP should only be requested if the original has been lost or stolen, and the individual has no other form of identity document to create a UKVI account.
After creating a UKVI account, if individuals can’t see their eVisa details no action is required straight away – UKVI will contact you directly by email when your eVisa is available to view.
You can use your BRP to prove your immigration status until your eVisa details are available.
Since announcing the eVisa deadline of 31st December 2024, the UK government has been under scrutiny for how this may affect BRP holders.
With what some industry officials have called a “rushed roll-out of the transition to eVisas”, the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA) has shared a joint open letter sharing its concerns.
