As you may already be aware, as well as the recent increases in UK Visa fees, the Immigration Health Surcharge is also going to be significantly increased. It has now been confirmed that on 16 January 2024 or later, the immigration health surcharge will increase from £624 per year to £1,035 per year for most applicants, in addition for children, students, their dependants and youth mobility workers. The charge will increase from £470 per year to £776 per year.
Details of this can be found here – the Immigration (Health Charge) (Amendment) Order 2023 which has now been laid before Parliament.
The increase will come into force on the later of 16th January 2024 or the twenty-first day after the day on which it is made, subject to Parliamentary approval.
Given the unprecedented level of the increase, we would strongly advise those planning to make their applications to do so, if practical, prior to the increase taking effect.
