Following UK Immigration Minister Tom Pursglove’s December announcement on Skilled Worker updates, further details have been confirmed.
This will remove the right for care workers and senior care workers to bring dependents, coming into force on 11th March 2024.
Aimed to tackle the abuse of the Health and Care Visa route, this will ensure that care providers in England will only be able to sponsor migrant workers who undertake activities regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The earnings threshold for those arriving on the Skilled Worker route will increase by 48% from £26,200 to £38,700.
This change will come into force from 4th April 2024, aimed at ensuring the immigration system is focused on attracting skilled, highly-paid staff from around the world.
Those coming on the Health and Care Visa route will be exempt from this specific threshold.
The minimum income for Family Visas will be increased incrementally, to give predictability to families. From 11th April 2024, the threshold will be raised to £29,000.
This will then be raised to £34,500 and £38,700 by early 2025.
